Client Spotlight: Jackie

The other day I received a wonderful message from an old client via Instagram: "With Black History Month in mind,this pic is simply another great opportunity to showcase the work of (2) awesome Black female artists from Brooklyn, New York. I found as a curvy girl, it’s actually more cost effective to have my formal wear custom made: For one our @royalcaribbean Cruises 🚢, my gown designed by the one and only Cassandra Bromfield 🙌🏽 @cassbromfield and Jewelry with Cowrie Shells designed by Sherri of Beauloni Bridal @legacy_beauloni. My husband is sporting a Kente print tie to match back to my gown. If I weren’t home sick this week, we’d probably wear the same to the opening of “Black Panther!”...

My Aunt Nona's little Geoffrey Beene gold beaded dress is now on display at the Museum of the City of New York.  The exhibition is Mod New York, Fashion Takes a Trip.....and you can bop and bounce through the exhibit listening to the sound track of the time.  The exhibit features designers Geoffrey Beene, Ruby Bailey, Pauline Trigére, and more. My Friend Lois

Lois made the bag she is wearing with a canvas on the cover that she purchased in Cuba, one of many trips around the world. Lois in her Jacket and dress by.....ME! Years ago, my friend Lois, brought back this fabric, this blue indigo fabric from the Sea Islands.  It was originally a bedspread.  Her request was a that it be made into a dress.  She reminded me it was at least 15 or more years ago. Fast forward December 2016, at an event we were both vending at, she loved the patchwork denim jacket her daughter purchased. Dawn in her Patchwork Jacket in December She put in an order for her patchwork denim jacket and made no special request. ...
